Israel Palestine Map: A historical brief is necessary as a prelude to the Israel-Palestine map. The Israel- Palestine map is something that has not yet found concrete definition. Palestine is one of the several names by which a region of land along the banks of the river Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea has been known since about three thousand years. In between this period there were many upheavals that led this region to become a part of the Ottoman Empire from 1517 to 1917. After the First World War, it came under British control. In 1923, the British bifurcated this territory. They named the part east of the Jordan River as Trans-Jordan (now Jordan).
After World War II and Germany’s defeat, the nation of Israel was re-established in 1948 on part of the land from which they were driven out 1800 years ago. The Israel-Palestine Map conforming to the re-established Jewish homeland shows Palestine, now called Israel, only west of the River Jordan.
