Daihatsu terios
A sport utility vehicle, or SUV, is a type of passenger vehicle that combines the towing capability of a pickup truck with the passenger-carrying space of a station wagon.
Daihatsu Terios: Released in 1997, The Daihatsu terios is a mini sports utility vehicle. The Japanese car manufacturer Daihatsu produced the vehicle. The vehicle has a 1.3 liter engine with a constant four wheel drive. The transmission is 5-speed manual or 4 speed automatic. The first model and the smaller model called Terios kid was a four door wagon.
The premier release of the Daihatsu Terios was popularly called the Huali Dario Terios in China, the Toyota Cami and Perodua Kembara. It was released in Indonesia as the Daihatsu Taruna .On the Japanese Domestic Car Market, the Terios succeeded the Daihatsu Be-go and Toyota Rush. However, it's not related to the European market: new model is sold under name Terios, as previously.
In 2006, the Red Dot Design Award was awarded to the new Terios by The Design Zentrum Nordrhein, located in Westfalen, Germany. This award was established in 1955 and is one of the most internationally renowned awards granted to products with high design quality.
Daihatsu Terios Road Test Review: The Terios model released in 2000 has had a small facelift in the interior and the exterior.The plastic black grille was replaced by the new chrome grille. The model also included electric front windows, a central locking system, rear seat head restraints, and alloy wheels, roof rails and a roof mounted rear spoiler. The Terios model is compact with a big interior. The interior has 5 seats with loads of luggage space. The engine economy is 1.5 liter per kilometer both on the city roads and on the highway. The car also has an air conditioning system is along with an integral CD tuner and reverse parking sensors.
In the new model, the 1.3 liter DOHC four cylinder engine replaces the 1.3 liter SOHC four cylinder engine, while the engine power has been increased by 3 kW.
Diahatsu plans to introduce a new diesel engine within two years. The engine is the Toyota 1.4-liter D-4D unit. The engine is popular for providing more pulling power and improved economy. The Daihatsu is considered a comfortable ride as its road-biased suspension provides agile handling and stable cornering. Off road, it can cope on gravel tracks and green lanes as well as steep or slippery terrain.
As far as comfort is concerned, the Terios has always been in the forefront. The rear seat has introduced a bench squab with 3 sittings each present with their own 3-point seatbelt. The Terios has a 60:40 split, fold and tumble function. The folding of the rear seats increase the luggage capacity from 390-litres to an undisclosed figure that is capable of holding a mountain bike.
In 2001, a sports limited edition series was introduced in Australia with only 200 units produced. The Australian version has matching bumpers, different to the two-tone color bumper present in the standard model. Rear spoiler and sunroof are standard to the Terios. The interior of the car has a metallic paint finish on the center console and instrument binnacle surround, white-faced dials and sports seats.
