Air Conditioner Repair

LadderLast summer there were a few particularly hot and humid days here in Chicago, where I live. Over 90 degrees is just too hot for me to handle! So of course on one of those gloriously hot summer days, I was enjoying staying out of the sun and being in my nice cool house…when my air conditioner stopped working. My first thoughts were to call up a friend that usually fixes things around the house for me. Unfortunaetely for me, this friend was out of town and wouldn’t be back until the following day, or maybe even the day after.

At this point I had 2 options… wait another day or two, or try and find a professional to come out sooner. I stopped to think about the weather forecast and impending heat wave that was already enveolping me and realized that I had no other choice. I chose the second option, and immediately began looking through the phone book. One of the biggest and boldest ads that I came across said “Air Conditioner Repair” in huge letters, with a toll free number to call. So I placed the call, and made an appointment for someone to come to my house that afternoon. At exactly 2pm on the dot, my doorbell rang and there was my air conditioner repair man.

His name was Ricky, and as soon as I showed him my busted air conditioner, he got to work. He spent some time inspecting the unit, and after a careful assessment he told me what was wrong with it. Apparently I had blocked grills, (caused by dirt, dust and other debris), which is something that he was able to fix with just some simple disassembly and wiping down of everything. It took no more than a few minutes to do this, and before I knew it he was putting everything back together again.

We went back into the house and I crossed my fingers as I flipped the switch to turn the A/C back on. SUCCESS! I had never been so happy in my life to hear that machine come to life! Immediately the cool air started flowing from the vents and cooling off the house again. I thanked Ricky profusely as I gave him a check for his services and showed him the door. I will never be hesitant again to call somebody for air conditioner repair when I need it after that awesome experience!
